Executive Team

A British Legal Technology award-winning pioneer of legal technology recognised for her passion in bridging the gap between Legal and IT disciplines. Lisa has an indelible wealth of experience discovering, supporting, designing and enabling change and success. She knows her stuff. She is able to design and navigate a course in a dynamic, constantly changing world of data, people risk and connectivity. She is a dedicated Legal Technologist trusted by Regulators, global and UK corporates, consultancies, Universities, and law firms.

An experienced Executive, and former Deloitte Partner with strong leadership, commercial, operational and technology skills. Tony brings more than 25 years of international consulting/advisory experience and expertise to Digital Risk Experts.  Experience garnered working for small consultancies through to one of the biggest.  As well as being Chairman for Digital Risk Experts, Tony will work closely with the Advisory Board to support Lisa, Joe and the team build a world-class, international company

Andrew Mills

Andrew Mills qualified as a lawyer in 1998, before moving into a Mergers & Acquisitions career in 2000. He had roles at EY, BDO, and RSM before setting up his own corporate finance business in 2011. Having spent the last two decades working on deals with debt and equity funders, he is uniquely placed to understand the requirements of funders and the businesses they invest in; and particularly the challenges around diligence and providing solutions to a business from a financial, commercial, legal and, increasingly, a data/security perspective

Rachel Mills

Rachel Mills is a qualified Solicitor who has worked as a Partner in a City law firm for many years. She is experienced in all forms of commercial dispute resolution with a focus on complex multi-jurisdiction claims including contractual and insurance disputes.

Rachel has worked in the maritime industry for the majority of her career and advised on claims arising from collisions, catastrophic injury and fatalities, which require accident investigation and involve various stakeholders. She also advised on yacht claims, insurance coverage disputes and travel law issues resulting in class-action litigation. Rachel has also worked in the space and communication sector advising on commercial contracts and regulatory issues.

More recently Rachel has been studying Forensic Medical Science and has been awarded a Diploma from the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries.

Rachel will work with the Board as a Non-Executive Director to provide legal insight and guidance across a range of issues.

Advisory Board

Gerard is a senior product, technology and transformation leader with broad board-level experience and an entrepreneurial track record. Gerard has proven ability to rapidly launch, grow and sell profitable technology businesses. Expertise in legal tech, the business application of leading-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital products, mobile, customer experience and innovation. Organisations need their advisers to be multidisciplinary experts. Gerard began his career as a developer, progressed to architecting and leading digital programmes, and business transformations. As a startup founder he has a couple of successful exits under his belt. Gerard is a qualified executive coach, and has helped many corporates develop innovative services and products, innovation processes, and to launch corporate ventures

Angela Whitty is the Managing Director responsible for Cisco’s UKI Partner Organisation. A long-term employee, she has been at Cisco for 28 years during which time she has held many leadership positions. Angela is known for her decisiveness, clear-minded customer focus and proven track record as a leader with the ability to build and run diverse teams. In recent years she has indulged her passion for talent development spending time coaching and mentoring future industry leaders both internally and across the wider business. A mother of two boys, she balances her career with a fulfilling family life as well as a desire to improve her golf skills!  She describes herself as an enthusiastic golf novice, never missing the opportunity to be out on the course! 

Steve Sander

Steve is an established expert in corporate value creation and business development, with 20+ years in technology, software and big 4 management consultancy.

His credentials come from driving new business models and technology ideas, building opportunity in clients and markets. Since recently leaving EY where he led global pursuits and advisory programmes, Steve has led strategic fund raising, M&A and strategic advisory projects for clients globally, is on the board or advises leadership in WealthTech, InsureTech and PropTech startups, and advises a global automotive firm’s digital technology go-to-market. 

Over his recent career Steve has served clients extensively in TMT, healthcare, life sciences, public sector, in various large global operations along the spectrum to smaller scale-up B2B tech businesses.

In addition Steve is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors; is alumnus business ambassador and contributes as a guest lecturer MBA strategy at Warwick Business School; and is a mentor and advisory board member for the charity Migrant Leaders 

Fergus Speight

Fergus is General Counsel at two high growth, Digital, FinTech startups, Zilo and Griffin. Fergus has spent his legal career in Financial Services in asset management, insurance, pensions and is now advising and guiding start-ups who are enabling high performance solutions. Fergus is also pro bono, in house legal adviser to The Big Exchange. Recognised for innovation by the FT in 2012 he also featured in the 2022 British Legal awards. Fergus is a mentor to other General Counsels and is regularly invited to contribute to industry events. Having trained in Scotland, he held senior legal and governance roles in the City at Aviva, Nomura, Resolution and was General Counsel at Royal London for 11 years before stepping down from leading that award-winning team earlier this year."

Peter West

Peter is an accomplished and versatile IT professional with over 20 years in the finance industry who has delivered high quality solutions to improve efficiency and stability of IT infrastructure. He has effective strategy and hands on management of all IT aspects possessing first class analytical, design and problem solving skills and dedicated to maintaining very high quality standards. He looks for ways that technology can help and improve a business and user experience.

Toby Berryman

Toby has over a decades experience sourcing talent for the legal technology sector. He has worked, and continues to work, with some of the larger consultancies and law firms but has also been fortunate enough to work with some of the most exciting start ups in the industry, Legaldw definitely join that category. He has sourced candidates for clients across EMEA, APAC and the US.

James Merritt

James is an eDisclosure consultant with vast experience of being involved in litigation support and working with Electronically Stored Information (ESI). James has worked in all aspects of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model [EDRM], from identification, acquiring and processing data through to production and presentation.

Being involved in multiple small and large scale litigation cases, James has handled both electronic and paper discovery while working on a number of offshore cases. James is no stranger to travelling to various locations in the E.U. and around the world and handling highly confidential data, while working to tight deadlines and always keeping relevant Data regulations at the forefront of operations.

James has a wealth of experience and accreditations, including: a First Class Degree in Digital Forensics (BSc), 7Safe’s Certified Forensic Investigation Practitioner (CFIP) and Certified Data Collection Technician (CDaCT), and Relativity’s Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA), Relativity Certified User (RCU) and Relativity Certified Sales Professional (RCSP), EU General Data Protection Regulation Foundation (GDPR F) and EU General Data Protection Regulation Practitioner (GDPR P).
